Miami Dolphins safety doesn’t mince words about former defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.
When the Miami Dolphins parted ways with defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, a few players publicly rejoiced. Rookie cornerback Cam Smith tweeted an unlocked emoji. Safety Jevon Holland posted a video on his Instagram story kicking rocks. But the most recent shot at Fangio comes by way of complimenting former Ravens Assistant Head Coach/Defensive line coach Anthony Weaver.

Weaver was one of the most respected members of the Ravens organization before his departure. According to Head Coach John Harbaugh, Weaver was the lead member of the committee last offseason in the team’s search for a new offensive coordinator, landing on Todd Monken.
“ We had a committee led by [assistant head coach and defensive line] coach Anthony Weaver, who did a great job. [Scouting information & research manager] Steve Clagett was on the committee, and [director of football research] Scott Cohen was on the committee. Those guys interviewed Todd [Monken], and they interviewed all the other candidates, too, pretty thoroughly. So, I appreciate those guys’ efforts, and they weighed in on the decision.”
As Weaver was expected to join the Dolphins, Harbaugh gave commendations for Weaver, the Dolphins and guaranteed teams will regret not hiring Weaver as their head coach.
“If he gets [the Dolphins defensive coordinator job], I’ll be happy for him, if he takes the job. … Maybe I’m speaking out of turn, [and] maybe I’ll get in trouble, there’s a league rule against this, but he’ll be a great head coach. He didn’t get hired this cycle, and great coaches got hired, but someday, some people are going to look back, and they’re going to say, ‘We had a chance to hire Anthony Weaver.’ I guarantee you that. They’re going to see that they missed their chance. The next time around, somebody’s not going to miss their chance. That’s how I feel about Anthony.”
The fact Weaver has already made an impact with his players is a testament to his character, supplemented by the fact that Fangio had rubbed them the wrong way.
