Amid rumors that Lamar Jackson is interested in joining the New England Patriots, one former Patriots star has some sage advice for the MVP quarterback: Don’t do it.
Taking to Twitter, former Pro Bowl cornerback and two-time Super Bowl champion Asante Samuel advised Jackson not to play for Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. In a now-viral tweet, Samuel simply said that he wouldn’t want it.
“Lamar Jackson, my brother trust me you don’t want to play for Belichick,” Samuel wrote.
Samuel’s tweet has over 45,000 views since this morning though many of the replies are from angry Patriots fans who are telling him off for never being good enough for them. Jets fans, on the other hand, are having a good ol’ laugh at the exchange.

The tweet from Asante Samuel may be moot though. Yesterday reports emerged that the New England are not even interested in bringing Lamar Jackson into the fold.
But while Jackson may or may not be an elite quarterback depending on who you ask, it seems hard to make the case that he isn’t at least an upgrade over the Patriots’ incumbent starter, Mac Jones.
If Jackson is determined to be coached by the best, it’s going to be hard to talk him out of it.
