Lamar Jackson told the world he requested a trade earlier this month, but the Baltimore Ravens aren’t ready to declare the relationship over.
“We love Lamar,” Ravens president Sashi Brown said, per ESPN’s Jamison Hensley. “We’re committed to getting something done.”
Brown’s assertion isn’t inspiring confidence among Ravens fans, who noted that “something” doesn’t specify the organization’s plan.
“A trade is something,” a fan said.

“‘Something” is quite, quite vague,” another fan wrote. “Man, Ravens and Lamar just need to go to couples therapy and stay together for the kids at this point.”

“This is a perfectly non-committal PR answer,” a fan noted. “‘Something’ doesn’t mean extending him.”

“The question is how much do you love him unconditionally and for how long in $$,” The Athletic’s Ted Nguyen wondered.

Jackson wrote Monday that the Ravens have “not been interested in meeting my value.”
“Any and everyone that has met me or been around me know I love the game of football and my dream is to help a team win the super bowl,” Jackson wrote on Twitter.
Baltimore used the non-exclusive franchise tag on Jackson, meaning he’s free to negotiate a new deal with other teams. However, the Ravens can match any offer sheet signed or receive two first-round draft picks if they decline.
