According to multiple reports, Jacoby Jones, former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver and 2012 playoffs hero, has passed away at age 40.
Jones was a charismatic, loving figure with the Ravens, known for his positive attitude, joking ways and dancing celebrations. He joined the Ravens after playing five years with the Houston Texans.
In his three years as a Raven, Jones was a critical component of their return team, earning First Team All-Pro in his first season with 1,167 return yards and two touchdowns. With the Ravens, Jones scored six return touchdowns (five kick, one punt). Impressively, three kick return touchdowns were for 108 yards, with the biggest return of all being the second-half opening kickoff return against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 47.
Jones’ play on the field was franchise defining for the Ravens. Jones was instrumental in the Ravens’ Super Bowl run in 2012 as he came up with the biggest play franchise history, catching the “Mile High Miracle” against the Denver Broncos. In Super Bowl 47, he also caught a 56-yard touchdown to put the Ravens up 28-3 before halftime.

In all, Jones played 10 years in the NFL and amassed 208 receptions for 2,880 yards and 16 touchdowns to go along with 8,401 return yards and 10 career return touchdown. He will be sorely missed by family, friends and fans.
