Four-Time Pro Bowler Signs Contract With Dallas Cowboys

Dalvin Cook Contract

NFL veteran running back Dalvin Cook signed a new contract with the Dallas Cowboys. Cook split the 2023 season between the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens but has most notably played for the Minnesota Vikings.

The Minnesota Vikings selected Dalvin Cook in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. It didn’t take long for Cook to establish stardom in the NFL as he averaged close to 89 yards per game during his first four games as a rookie. Unfortunately, the running back suffered a torn ACL, prematurely ending his season. After injury-shortened rookie and sophomore seasons, Cook was able to find a stride. From 2019-2022 the former second-round pick did not rush for under 1,000 yards in a season. In 2020, Cook had his best season to date, rushing for 1,557 yards and 16 touchdowns. In 2022, his final season with the Vikings, he looked as good as ever.

For the first time in his career, Cook played an entire 17-game season. Along the way, the running back amassed almost 1,200 yards rushing, 39 receptions, and  eight touchdowns. He posted the longest run of his career as well, an 81-yard scamper toward the end zone. Shockingly, after Cook posted the most complete season of his career, Minnesota decided to go a different direction.

After a long, indecisive off-season, Dalvin Cook decided to sign with the Aaron Rodgers-led New York Jets on a one-year $7 million contract. With running back Breece Hall coming off a season-ending injury, and a new superstar quarterback in town, New York seemed like the perfect fit. Things turned out to be the complete opposite. Cook posted career lows across the board, only starting in one game out of 15 that he’d suited up for. Ultimately, Cook requested a release and signed with the Baltimore Ravens. In Baltimore, Cook barely saw the field, similar to his stint in New York. After four great seasons and one abysmal season, Cook is looking to get back on track.
