John Harbaugh Says Team’s Offense Will Look Different In 2024

The Baltimore Ravens shook things up last year when they brought in new offensive coordinator Todd Monken and it led to a 13-4 record and second MVP for Lamar Jackson.

However, it didn’t stop the Ravens’ season from ending with a thud in the AFC Championship Game.

Now as the franchise regroups from another disappointing playoff exit, coach John Harbaugh says “there’s no doubt” that there will be more changes to come in 2024.

Many of those changes will be centered around the thoughts of the team’s star quarterback, Harbaugh told the team’s website:

He’s got a lot of thoughts. I think he’s looking at every aspect of his game. He starts with himself; that’s what I love about Lamar. [He asks,] ‘What can I do better?’ And that’s why he continues to improve. Then, he goes to what we need, what we need schematically in his view, and he trusts the coaches. We talked and shared ideas schematically, also personnel-wise. We’re kind of working on that now, and then, he’ll come back, and he’ll look at everything, and we’ll want to know what he thinks. Like, ‘Do you prefer this or this? Are you comfortable in this direction or that direction? What do you like? [Are there] any other ideas you had since we talked last?’ Lamar will be part of the architecture. I believe he’ll be a big part of the architecture of the offense.

Baltimore mysteriously got away from its run game against the Chiefs in Jan. 28’s conference championship with only eight handoffs to players not named Lamar Jackson.

Harbaugh and the Ravens always put a formidable squad on the field. But fans probably can’t help but wonder if not now, when?
