John Harbaugh Was Asked If He Wants To Face His Brother In The Playoffs

Back in Super Bowl XLVII, we saw the first-ever brother vs. brother postseason NFL game as John Harbaugh’s Baltimore Ravens beat Jim Harbaugh’s San Francisco 49ers.

With the two coaches once again NFL rivals, there’s a chance they’ll face off in the AFC playoffs one day. Is that something that appeals to the Ravens head coach?

Appearing on The Lounge Podcast, John Harbaugh admitted that he’s “50-50” on the idea. He said that while he wants his brother Jim to be successful with the Los Angeles Chargers, he wants to win every game. As a result, he’s rooting for Jim in every game they won’t play against each other.

“It’s 50-50 man, that’s a double edged sword, right,” Harbaugh said. “Because I want them to be successful and I want to be in the playoffs… Number one, I want to be in the playoffs… Number two is I want him to be in the playoffs. I want them to be successful, for sure. He’s my brother. And if we play him I want to win.

“That’s another long shot thing and I know he feels exactly the same way. If for some reason, you know, whenever it happens if they’re in the Super Bowl, which I’m rooting for him to be in the Super Bowl, I will be e rooting for him just like the National Championship game right? All in for them to win that game.”

“But not (an AFC) Championship game. If we’re playing in the championship game, it’s gonna be just like the Super Bowl, and it’s hard. It’s tough. It’s hard to lose that game. It’s even harder to win that game because you got to go shake hands. I think there’s some clips coming back out about that whole thing.

“That was a tough moment. It was a tough moment. You know? It’s not all joy when it’s your brother on the other side of that deal.”

If Jim Harbaugh has the Chargers playing like the 49ers back in the early-2010s, John Harbaugh might not have much choice in the matter.
