The Kiwanis Club of Westminster will present its spring community forum to discuss emergency medical services in the county at Exploration Commons at 50 East at the Carroll County Public Library Westminster Branch on March 4.
The forum is the third of a four-part series held throughout 2024 and 2025 to address various topics around the county including, youth leadership education, early childhood literacy and post-high school options, according to the club. The forum will be led by Carroll County Department of Fire and EMS director and chief Michael Robinson who will discuss the new emergency medical services system and answer community members’ questions.
The Carroll County Department of Fire and EMS is transitioning from a volunteer-based system to a combination of paid and volunteer personnel, according to the Carroll County Times. The transition began in fiscal year 2023 and is expected to continue through fiscal year 2025.
Art Riley, chair of the community forum series for the Kiwanis Club of Westminster said he hopes the forum will educate the community on the changes taking place within the EMS system.
“We felt the community might have some questions and might want to be educated about this changeover,” he said.
The forum will take place at Exploration Commons at 50 East at the Carroll County Public Library Westminster Branch at 50 East Main Street in Westminster, March 4 from 6:15-7:30 p.m.
The final forum will take place at Exploration Commons at 50 East at the Carroll County Public Library Westminster Branch at 50 East Main Street in Westminster, June 3 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
