Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson met with the media Thursday after officially signing his five-year, $260 million contract.
During this Thursday’s press conference, Jackson was asked about the trade request he made in March.
Jackson did his best to steer clear of that topic in a respectful manner.
“Today, we’re gonna keep it about the future,” Jackson said. “I’m not really worried about what happened in the past. I’m gonna keep it about these next five years. And keep it about what’s going on today. You know, it’s a great day.”
Lamar Jackson has a big deal with the Ravens … and no interest in talking about that trade request from the Ravens.

Obviously, Jackson was singing a different tune in March.
“As of March 2nd I requested a trade from the Ravens organization for which the Ravens has not been interested in meeting my value, any and everyone that’s has met me or been around me know I love the game of football and my dream is to help a team win the Super Bowl,” he tweeted. “You all are great but I had to make a business decision that was best for my family and I. No matter how far I go or where my career takes me, I’ll continue to be close to my fans of Baltimore Flock nation and the entire State of Maryland.”
It’s unclear if Jackson truly wanted out or if this was a negotiation tactic. Either way, it doesn’t matter.
Like Jackson said, he’ll be in Baltimore for at least the next five years. The focus should be on the 2023 season, not a tweet he sent out over a month ago.
