The tension between Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens over the quarterback’s contract has been ongoing for some time.
When Jackson missed the final five games of the 2022 regular season and the Ravens’ Wild Card playoff loss due to a PCL sprain, there were some who questioned if he was really too hurt to play, alleging that the former MVP sat out to preserve his health because of financial reasons.
Jackson fired back at those people on Twitter this morning.
“I don’t remember me sitting out on my guys Week 1 vs. Jets to Week 12 vs. Broncos,” Jackson said. “How come all of a sudden I sit out because of money in which I could’ve got hurt at anytime within that time frame? When we know the Super Bowl been on my mind since April 2018.
“Let’s get real. I rather have a 100% PCL than go out there and play horrible forcing myself to put my guys in a bad situation now that’s selfish to me.”

Jackson has been more vocal on Twitter lately, sharing on Monday that he requested a trade from the Ravens at the beginning of March.
Baltimore placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on the 26-year-old signal caller three weeks ago, meaning he is free to negotiate with other teams but the Ravens are able to match any offer sheet Jackson receives, or recoup two first-round picks should they choose not to do that.
