Tyler Huntley will start Saturday with other quarterbacks to get reps

With the No. 1 seed in the AFC locked up, the plan for starters is under constant watch as the Ravens game will play on Saturday against Pittsburgh. The largest domino has fallen as Head Coach John Harbaugh revealed on Wednesday that Lamar Jackson would not play.

“The quarterback for this game will be Tyler, the backup will be Josh.”

Just like the 2019 Week 18 matchup after the Ravens secured the bye, Jackson will sit and the backup will start. Coincidentally, that game was also against the Steelers, with Robert Griffin III starting. Now, Tyler Huntley will have a similar chance to go out and win a game, which has great meaning for Pittsburgh as they look to get into the playoffs.

Josh Johnson was revealed to be the backup as well as news about newcomer Malik Cunningham. Harbaugh said Cunningham would be active for the first time this year as a Raven as the third option at quarterback as well as getting work as a wide receiver and on special teams. Work as a wide receiver is interesting as it was the Ravens telling Cunningham that their plan was to develop him as a quarterback and not a receiver hybrid that made him sign in Baltimore.

Jackson for his part seemed ok with Harbaugh’s decision, stating he was “cool with it.”

As for other news, Harbaugh didn’t have much detail outside of Daryl Worley being ruled out. He noted everybody else on the injury report was day-to-day and they’d know more as the week progressed.
