On Saturday morning, ESPN insider Adam Schefter broke the news that Dwayne Haskins tragically passed away. Unfortunately, his original tweet was poorly worded.
“Dwayne Haskins, a standout at Ohio State before struggling to catch on with Washington and Pittsburgh in the NFL, died this morning when he got hit by a car in South Florida, per his agent Cedrick Saunders. Haskins would have turned 25 years old on May 3,” Schefter tweeted.
That tweet from Schefter sparked a fiery response from Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Jackson called out Schefter for mentioning Haskins’ struggles on the field in his initial post.
“You lame asf all around grown ass man and can look in the mirror and smile at yourself,” Jackson tweeted at Schefter.

One of Jackson’s followers, replied: “He ain’t even trying apologize either just deleted and tweeted again. Disgusting! Glad I never followed him.”
Jackson then said, “And he never does!”

Schefter eventually deleted that tweet and replaced it with: “Dwayne Haskins, a standout at Ohio State before becoming Washington’s first-round pick and playing in Pittsburgh, died this morning when he got hit by a car in South Florida, per his agent Cedric Saunders.”
Our thoughts are with Haskins’ family and friends during this time.
