Millions of viewers will watch the Super Bowl on Sunday night. Lamar Jackson won’t be among them.
Speaking to NFL Network’s Taylor Bisciotti during Thursday’s NFL Honors ceremony, the newly crowned MVP said he doesn’t plan on watching the Kansas City Chiefs play the San Francisco 49ers two weeks after Kansas City eliminated his Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game.
“Too raw,” Jackson said. “Too raw. I’m good. I don’t want to watch the game.

When asked if he had any advice for the Chiefs since the Ravens defeated the 49ers on Christmas, Jackson declined to assist the team that eliminated him.
Baltimore entered the playoffs as favorites to compete for the Lombardi Trophy in Las Vegas. The Ravens earned the AFC’s No. 1 seed after Jackson set personal highs in completion rate (67.2), passing yards (3,678), and yards per attempt (8.0) during a 13-4 campaign.
As home favorites, Baltimore fell short of capturing the AFC title with a 17-10 loss to Kansas City. Jackson completed 20 of 37 passes for 272 yards, a touchdown, and two turnovers.
Although he’s a two-time MVP in just five full seasons as a starter, Jackson has yet to play in a Super Bowl. He believes the Ravens will represent the AFC in New Orleans next year.
“Just lock in some more,” he said. “Just do what we do, and we will be in it.”
Just in case Jackson changes his mind, the Super Bowl kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
