The Baltimore Ravens will have a new head coach for the first time in almost two decades next year, and nobody knows who will ultimately earn that job. However, two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson may have a preferred coaching staff, if his Instagram is to be believed. On Saturday afternoon, one Reddit user noted that Jackson liked a post showing a proposed coaching staff of Mike McDaniel, Robert Saleh, and Brian Flores. Based on where they’re standing in the AI-generated image, it’s safe to assume McDaniel would be the offensive coordinator, Flores would be the defensive coordinator, and Saleh would be the head coach.
Lamar Jackson Hints At Ideal Coaching Hires On Instagram
Let’s start with the obvious: if assembled, this would be one of the best coaching staffs in football. Say what you will about Mike McDaniel as a head coach, but nobody can question his ability as an offensive playcaller. The former Dolphins head coach first made a name for himself with the San Francisco 49ers and proved he could thrive away from Kyle Shanahan during his years with Miami. Pairing him with an elite talent in Jackson should give the Ravens one of the game’s best offenses.
Brian Flores, meanwhile, is an elite defensive mind who just helped the Vikings win nine games despite having the league’s worst quarterback situation. Robert Saleh’s .357 winning percentage as a head coach isn’t all that impressive on paper, but it’s worth noting he spent the vast majority of his Jets tenure with Zach Wilson at quarterback. New York also became much worse after the Jets fired him.
Saleh would be a solid head coaching hire, and it sounds like McDaniel could be willing to take an offensive coordinator job if the right head coaching opportunity doesn’t present itself, but Flores probably wants to be a head coach. With so many openings throughout the league, he’ll probably receive at least one offer.
