Latest Report Suggests 4,000-Yard Wideout Could Find New Team – Chargers, Ravens Potential Fits?

A recent report came out this week stating that 4,000-yard wideout Tee Higgins could find a new team this upcoming offseason and Chargers, Ravens could be potential fits. According to multiple sources, many people within the league believe Higgins will be on his way out as the Bengals aren’t mathematically out of the postseason this year, but sitting at 4-6 means they’re fighting for a wild-card spot. Cincinnati has been a disappointment this season, especially for star players like Ja’Marr Chase who will be looking for a new contract, so that leaves Bengals with more questions than answers.

However, Joe Burrow’s new deal will produce hefty numbers in 2025 so it’ll likely come down to picking between Chase and Higgins. Originally selected in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Clemson product hoped to establish as a top target for the Bengals offense before becoming an underwhelming No. 2 wideout behind Chase. With Chase dominating the field, this would force Higgins to relocate elsewhere but it shouldn’t be long before he finds a new team. Higgins was the subject of trade rumors this past offseason but he’ll have the freedom to sign anywhere he wants.

He’s sitting at 25 receptions for 259 receiving yards and two touchdowns so he’ll need to increase those numbers if he wants a better contract from another team. Higgins probably won’t ever succeed under Burrow’s command since Chase is taking the spotlight. Despite missing five games this season, there should be plenty of teams contacting him as soon as free agency opens. The Chargers, Ravens could roll the dice on the playmaker to see what he has to provide.

The New Super Team

Just like the Kansas City Chiefs, the Baltimore Ravens are shaping themselves to be competitive for the next decade as long as their key contributors stay healthy. The team is always looking for wide receiver help even if it means searching in free agency if they fail to break the championship drought. Diontae Johnson looks more like a temporary experiment despite planning to get him involved this week. At 7-3, the Ravens have an excelling ground game and enough pass catchers to drive this team to the Super Bowl.

However, there are still some inconsistencies in the back end of the wide receiving corps behind Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman. Nelson Agholor has his moments but it’s never to compensate that he’ll be a definite answer for Lamar Jackson’s passing game. Higgins will have to wait patiently but given his age and untapped potential, he could easily bank himself as the No. 2 receiver behind Flowers. This could improve Bateman’s inconsistent moments by focusing on the slant routes.

Loading Up for Herbert

The Los Angeles Chargers offense is looking like a real threat under Justin Herbert leading the pack to 6-3. However, they still have a few holes at the receiver position since they don’t have a singular weapon that is consistent. Rookie Ladd McConkey is probably the only wideout looking like a young Adam Thielen but they need more if they want to make a huge splash in the postseason. This year will be all about how competitive they could be without a superstar playmaker in their possession.

Joshua Palmer shows a few flashes but Quentin Johnston was the sole reason why the Chargers never got a replacement this past trade deadline. After releasing Mike Williams and trading Keenan Allen, the passing game hasn’t been as efficient despite the 5-11 record last year. Jim Harbaugh may love the running game but he’ll understand soon that it’ll take more than just carrying the football on the ground. Tee Higgins would easily be an attainable deep threat so Herbert can go back to slinging it in the air.
