Latest Report Suggests Jets Wide Receiver is a Trade Candidate – 4 Suitors Emerge

June 18, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

While he could stay with the team this upcoming season, New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard could be a trade candidate during the 2025 campaign. According to a source, the Jets may consider the wideout after coming off one of the worst seasons in his career, recording just 37 receptions for 530 yards and six touchdowns. Lazard couldn’t replicate any chemistry with former Jet quarterback Aaron Rodgers despite losing one season of playing football with him due to a season-ending injury in 2023. Originally selected as an undrafted rookie, the former Iowa State product hasn’t had any luck producing any type of impact in the NFL since leaving the Green Bay Packers in 2022.

The wideout was hoping to re-establish his career with Rodgers since they found so much success together in Green Bay. While there are rumors that Lazard could reunite with the veteran in Pittsburgh, he reportedly said that he’s staying with the Jets, but it might not be up to him if a trade does happen. According to ESPN, they believe Lazard could lose his WR2 spot behind Garrett Wilson to Josh Reynolds, as he’s more of a clear-cut favorite to be a reliable target for Justin Fields’ offense. Earlier this offseason, the Jets permitted Lazard to seek a trade, but couldn’t get enough interest for him to move on, so the team decided to retain him on a reworked deal.

With that, a trade seems out of reach this season, but it shouldn’t be surprising if it happens with these four teams.

Possible Destinations

Dallas Cowboys

This would have been the most logical trade for the Dallas Cowboys if they didn’t get George Pickens, but there’s still a chance the team could add another wide receiver. Allen Lazard isn’t going to drastically change the aerial attack for Dak Prescott, but he could be a reliable slot guy to tag along with Jalen Tolbert, who is in his last year of his contract. CeeDee Lamb and Pickens will finally have their work cut out for themselves in the deep threat area, while Lazard, Tolbert, Jonathan Mingo and Kavontae Turpin will solidify the slant routes.

Los Angeles Chargers

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers need another consistent wideout. Lazard is far from that, but the Chargers should be desperate for another capable body to help quarterback Justin Herbert. Between Quentin Johnston, Mike Williams and Tre Harris, none of these receivers is enough for a wild-card. Johnston is still fighting for a roster spot and Harris is untested. Williams is washed up, so maybe adding Lazard could improve their chances to even help 2024 draft pick Ladd McConkey in the aerial attack.

Baltimore Ravens

However, the Ravens need a reliable replacement since they most likely won’t re-sign Nelson Agholor. While they did trade for DeAndre Hopkins, the move seems more like a temporary one. The Ravens never fail to bring out some type of life in a receiver that was struggling before, and he could carve out a role in this offense behind Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman.

New Orleans Saints

Between quarterbacks Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler, the offense will likely struggle since they’re without an adequate signal-caller. They need all of the receivers to put one of them in a position to win ball games. Lazard won’t take Chris Olave or Rashid Shaheed’s job, but he could make an impact tagging with veteran Brandin Cooks in the slot.
