The Baltimore Ravens shook the NFL world when they placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on Lamar Jackson this week.
Jackson’s negotiations with the team that drafted him in the first round in 2018 have thus far not been fruitful. Now, the Ravens can either match any offer Jackson gets from another team or recoup two first-round picks should they let the former MVP sign elsewhere.
Jackson has stayed mum publicly before doing some self-advertising on Twitter tonight. He quote-tweeted a tweet that recognized him as one of only five quarterbacks with a “96+ passer rating and 100+ pass TD in their first 61 starts.”
The others are Patrick Mahomes, Dan Marino, Aaron Rodgers and Deshaun Watson.
“Great company,” Jackson said.
Right now, there have been a whole host of teams coming out and saying they don’t intend on pursuing Jackson. It only takes one to do it though and make things very interesting for the Ravens.
We’ll see if a term like that emerges.
