Ravens safety Marcus Williams spoke on not playing against the Cleveland Browns and moving forward.

After not playing on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns in Week 8, Baltimore Ravens safety Marcus Williams said he’s focused on the future.

“I’m just looking forward. I’ve faced adversity all my life,” Williams said. “It’s nothing new to me. Adversity makes you or breaks you and it’s how you react, how you come out and act like a pro and do all you’ve got to do to move on and get the next week.”

Williams wasn’t interested in sharing why or how he ultimately was not on the field, only that he’s preparing for the opportunity to be back in action.

“We’re not worried about what happened last week. It’s all about moving forward to this week, getting prepared, staying prepared,” Williams said. “When I’m ready to get in, when it’s my time, I’ll go in and do what I’ve got to do to make plays.”

It’s unclear if Williams will be play Sunday against the Denver Broncos, but if he is, he’ll be ready.

“Yeah, I’m just going to stay prepared no matter what,” Williams said. “I’d rather be prepared for an opportunity and not have one than have an opportunity and not be prepared. I’m going to stay prepared and when my name is called, I’m going to go out there and do what I’ve got to do.”

The Ravens defense has struggled this season. Their pass defense ranks No. 32, allowing an average of 291.4 yards per game. In their last three games, they’ve allowed 310 yards. With Williams out last week, Browns quarterback Jameis Winston threw for 334 yards and three touchdowns on 27-of-41 passing as the Browns defeated the Ravens, 29-24. Most notably, Eddie Jackson, who was taking the majority of Williams’ snap share was outmatched against the Browns’ pass-catchers.

According to PFF, Jackson allowed six of 10 targets thrown his way for 79 yards and two touchdowns and was credited with two dropped interceptions. He was the safety in coverage on the Browns’ game-winning touchdown with 1:04 remaining.
