Lamar Jackson’s future with the Ravens has been the talk of the NFL offseason, and for good reason. The former MVP has not yet signed a contract for the 2023 season.
During this Friday’s edition of Get Up, ESPN analyst Jeremy Fowler provided a bleak update on the Ravens’ quarterback situation.
Fowler said the Ravens are in “full contingency mode” at quarterback. As a result, they’re evaluating the top prospects at the position.
“I’m hearing the Ravens are in full contingency mode at quarterback and have been for the past two months,” Fowler said. “They were heavily in on Baker Mayfield – thought they may have had him at one point. They were in on Jacoby Brissett, who went to Washington. Now, I’m talking to several teams that said Baltimore is looking at pretty much the full spectrum of quarterbacks in this draft.”
Fowler described Jackson’s relationship with the Ravens as “tenuous at best.”
Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta told reporters this week that drafting a quarterback in the first round is something the team will consider.
“It depends on the board. It really does,” DeCosta said. “I’d have to say yes because we have quarterbacks in our top 31. So just based on that alone, simple math, I would have to say yes.”
What the Ravens do in this upcoming draft could very well determine how this drama-filled situation with Jackson plays out.
