It remains to be seen if the Baltimore Ravens will sign Lamar Jackson long-term, but if they do, it looks like the former MVP has a fan in new offensive coordinator Todd Monken.
During his introductory press conference Tuesday, Monken had plenty of praise for Jackson when asked to assess the Baltimore quarterback.
“He’s got an elite skillset. It’s obvious when you watch him on film, the things he can do with the football, the plays that he makes,” Monken said. “I think he’s underrated as a passer. I think so, in terms of his ability to make plays and throw it down the field.”
Jackson reportedly had some input in the hiring of Monken, though exactly how much of a say depends on who you listen to.
The NFL franchise tag window opened up today, and the Ravens could use it to their advantage to buy time to work out a deal with their franchise passer.
However, if they tag Jackson and an agreement still seems farfetched, Baltimore could then pivot and trade their onetime first-round pick.
