Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews had some interesting thoughts on the state of his team’s search for a new offensive coordinator as well as the state of the league overall.
Speaking to NBC’s Chris Simms, Andrews made it pretty clear that with the way the league is moving towards pass-first offenses, the offensive coordinator needs to lean that way too.
“This is such a pass happy league,” Andrews said at one point. “If you’re not doing it, you’re gonna fall behind.”
But NFL fans have taken that statement in part to mean that incumbent quarterback Lamar Jackson isn’t a fit for Baltimore. Many are saying that if the Ravens transition to more of a pass-first offense as opposed to the run-first one they’ve had for the past few years, Jackson won’t be able to make it work.
Lamar Jackson’s passing has been a major point of contention for NFL fans for several years now. He only has four games with over 300 passing yards and 12 with over 250 passing yards.
Some would argue that Jackson’s running, the backfield and the defense have mitigated his need to even try and throw the ball a ton. He did lead the league with 36 touchdown passes just a few years ago.
Of course, that becomes moot if the Ravens decide to trade Jackson.
Do the Ravens need to take Mark Andrews’ advice?
