The Ravens have officially named Todd Monken their offensive coordinator for the 2023 season. This hire was announced on Tuesday morning.
Monken, 57, has several years of experience coaching in the NFL. However, he spent the past three seasons as Georgia’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh is confident that Monken will lead the offense to new heights.
“Todd’s leadership and coaching acumen were evident from the beginning,” Harbaugh said. “He has a proven track record for designing and teaching offensive systems that allow players to succeed at the highest level. We’re excited to get to work and begin building an offense that will help us compete for championships.”
Most of the NFL world believes Monken is an excellent hire for the Ravens.
As for Georgia fans, they’re pretty upset that Monken is leaving Athens.
“Awesome hire,” Evan Silva tweeted.
“Ravens are finally entering this generation of football,” Joe Goodberry said. “Now they gotta keep Lamar and get receivers.”
Mike Golic Jr. said, “It’s gonna really suck if they make this hire only to trade Lamar.”
Now that Monken is on board for the 2023 season, the Ravens will need to focus on retaining Lamar Jackson.
Jackson is set to be a free agent this March. The expectation is that he’ll receive the franchise tag if the Ravens fail to sign him to a long-term contract.
