Wide receiver has been a major area of weakness for the Baltimore Ravens lately and the team took a step towards addressing the position today.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz of theScore, the Ravens are signing free agent wide receiver Nelson Agholor to a deal. The free agent wide receiver spent the last two seasons with the New England Patriots, during which he had 68 receptions for 835 yards and five touchdowns in 31 games.
Agholor has a reputation for being a deep threat, but has struggled to be productive during his eight NFL seasons. He has only three seasons with over 500 receiving yards and two with more than four touchdown catches.
Ravens fans were not at all amused by the report though. Many feel that Agholor is not a suitable wide receiver at all and think that this signing is more proof that the Ravens are unwilling to properly build around star quarterback Lamar Jackson:
Yup, there we have it. I think now we’ll focus on getting another receiver via draft https://t.co/6pato8Kq1C

As long as they view him as a WR3/4 this is fine but is this not the most humor inducing signing they could have made? 😂
.@Ravens why y’all like embarrassing us? https://t.co/NslZ2uMI3g

Nelson Agholor was the No. 20 overall pick out of USC in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. He had one of the best seasons of his career in 2017 during their Super Bowl season, including nine receptions for 84 yards against the Patriots in Super Bowl LII.
Agholor signed a one-year deal with the Raiders in 2020 and promptly had one of the best seasons of his career, recording a career-high 896 yards and 18 yards per catch that season.
Is Agholor the right fit for the Ravens though?
