NFL World Reacts To Tuesday’s Le’Veon Bell News

November 16, 2021 by The Spun

Baltimore Ravens running back Le'Veon Bell.

Le’Veon Bell is no longer a member of the Baltimore Ravens.

In a fairly surprising decision, the Ravens released Bell on Tuesday afternoon. He announced the news via social media.

“This hurts, but it’s been a blessing to be here to say the least,” Bell said. “I’ve enjoyed every second of this short period & gotta whole new meaning of what this city is like & it’s a great place to be. I appreciate Eric Decasta & John Harbaugh for the opportunity to be called an Raven.”

The veteran running back will head to waivers. If he clears waivers, he’ll then become a free agent.

The Baltimore Ravens signed Le’Veon Bell ahead of the 2021 season after losing J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards to season-ending injuries.

It was then believed Bell would have a breakout season and be a big contributor for the Baltimore offense. It never transpired. Bell appeared in just five games, rushing for 83 yards and two touchdowns.

Just a few years ago, Bell was one of the best running backs in the NFL. Now, he can’t even keep a spot on an active roster.

Time sure does fly.

My understanding is that the #Ravens are still hoping that Le’Veon Bell can come back to their practice squad, at some point. As of right now, they are getting guys back and need the spot.

2017: Le’Veon Bell had 321 carries for 1291 yards with 9 TDs.

2018: Year off.

2019-2021: 358 carries for 1200 yards with 7 TDs.

Le’Veon Bell had the biggest fall from grace in recent years from being Highest Paid to being released

Le’Veon Bell’s career proves how difficult it is to play the running back position at a high level for longer than a few years.

The veteran back should find a new home at some point in coming weeks. It’s always plausible he signs with the Ravens’ practice squad.
