Oddsmakers Reveal Top 10 Super Bowl Favorites After NFL Draft

May 7, 2023 by Last Word On Pro Football

Super Bowl Odds

The 2023 NFL Draft is officially over, which means the vast majority of the team-building process is complete. Ceasar’s Sportsbook recently released their Super Bowl odds for the upcoming season, and ten teams have emerged as frontrunners. In order, they are:

  • Kansas City Chiefs, +600
  • Philadelphia Eagles, +750
  • Buffalo Bills, +900
  • Cincinnati Bengals, +1000
  • New York Jets, +1400
  • Dallas Cowboys, +1600
  • Detroit Lions, +2500
  • Baltimore Ravens, +2500
  • Los Angeles Chargers, +2500
  • Jacksonville Jaguars, +2500

10 Teams Given Best Odds to Win Super Bowl

It should come as no surprise that the Kansas City Chiefs are once again the favorites to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. Even though they could still use another veteran wide receiver, it’s foolish to bet against Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid. These two are the 2020’s answer to the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick duo, and as long as both of them are in Kansas City, they’re going to be the team to beat.

The Eagles are right behind them and, once again, that makes perfect sense. Howie Roseman did a masterful job in the NFL Draft, and the NFC should provide a much easier path to the Super Bowl than the AFC. From a betting odds standpoint, the Eagles can watch the elite teams of the AFC all destroy each other and only need to face one in the Super Bowl.

The Head-Scratchers

Caesar’s Sportsbook is a lot higher on the Detroit Lions than I am. While Dan Campbell’s squad showed plenty of life in 2022, especially in the back half of the year, this team should be facing much longer odds to hold a Lombardi. As constructed, this team was built to go 9-8, sneak into a Wild Card birth, and get crushed once they ran into a real team. Jared Goff is not good enough to win a Super Bowl all on his own, and the Detroit Lions had a terrible draft, prioritizing unimportant positions and seriously limiting their ceiling.

Vegas also appears to be giving the Jets a lot of credit for acquiring Aaron Rodgers. While there is no denying that the four-time NFL MVP is a major upgrade on Zach Wilson, it’s also fair to say that he’s no longer the elite player he used to be. The Jets have a talented roster, but is it really better that the Los Angeles Chargers and Jacksonville Jaguars? There is a case to be made that the Jets are better, but the disparity in the Super Bowl odds shouldn’t be that dramatic.

Last but certainly not least is the San Francisco 49ers. This roster is absolutely loaded from top to bottom, but isn’t it weird that a team with a massive question mark at quarterback has the third-best odds of winning it all. Brock Purdy played well last year, but the former seventh-round pick is coming off a serious elbow injury and might not be ready for the start of the 2023 season. Even if he is ready, he only played a very small sample of football, and there is a chance that teams figure him out as more game film comes to light.
