Odell Beckham Jr. was on fire in the Super Bowl before suffering the ACL tear that’s kept him off the field ever since.
The then-Los Angeles wide receiver already had a 17-yard touchdown catch and another reception for 35 yards, putting him well on his way to a possible Super Bowl MVP trophy.
Though his Rams team went on to win the game, this event was full of conflicting emotions for OBJ.
On Thursday, Beckham opened up about his expectations for that Super Bowl day.
“It sucks. I watched plenty of Super Bowls and finally, it was my opportunity and I was so locked in. I could feel it that day when I woke up,” Beckham said, via the Baltimore Sun. “I knew that I was probably going to be the best person on the field that day. I just wanted to have that moment.”
Beckham said it’s hard to live with the fact that he couldn’t finish out the game.
“It’s hard when you get to the pinnacle of success in this sport and feel like it was something that was taken away from you,” Beckham said. “It wasn’t something that was easy to live with. It was very hard to go through that.”
Beckham is now healthy as he heads into his first season with the Baltimore Ravens.
