Baltimore Ravens running back J.K. Dobbins’ 2023 season is officially over.
Dobbins, who has been beset with injuries the last three years, tore his Achilles in the Ravens’ Week 1 win over the Houston Texans.
Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh said postgame they believed Dobbins’ Achilles was torn and MRI results confirmed the bad news on Monday.

Dobbins had carried the ball eight times for 22 yards and a touchdown while adding two receptions for 15 yards before his injury.
He will have surgery on Friday, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, and is aiming to follow the same timeline Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers did when coming back from his own Achilles tear.

Cam Akers recovered in less than 6 months from a torn Achilles two years ago and Dobbins is aiming for a similar timeline.

A second-round pick out of Ohio State in 2020, Dobbins turned in a strong rookie season (805 rushing yards and nine touchdowns) and seemed poised for a breakout 2021 campaign before he tore his ACL in the preseason finale.
Dobbins was limited to only seven games last season due to knee issues and now will miss the rest of 2023.
Gus Edwards and Justice Hill are next in line to handle the backfield workload for the Ravens in his absence.
