PFF believes the Buffalo Bills could target free agent linebacker CJ Mosley to improve the pass-rushing unit before the 2025 campaign. According to the source, they think Mosley may be the answer to the faulty linebacker issue since Matt Milano has injury issues and Terrell Bernard is still developing. It’s true that they need some type of help, which is why they got Joey Bosa during free agency, so it’s possible the Bills could take the route of acquiring any veteran on a tight one-year budget. Originally selected in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, the former Alabama product is past his prime, but he intends to keep playing if there is an opportunity out there to cap off his NFL career on whichever roster needs help in their unit.
The Bills are in dire need of a veteran presence in their department since Baylon Spector hasn’t produced a season-long PFF grade, and there’s not enough depth in the unit. Mosley doesn’t need to start to make an impact on Buffalo’s defense, but enough to be in rotation in specific situations. The Bills won’t be the only team that could pursue Mosley, there are plenty of teams that may express interest in the veteran right before the 2025 regular season. Despite dealing with injuries, the linebacker put an 82.9 PFF grade in his last full season, so as long as he stays healthy, these three teams should be in good shape to sign him at least to a one-year contract.

3 Other Logical Fits
Washington Commanders
If any football culture in the NFL is in the best spot, it’s the Washington Commanders. This season is theirs for the taking, but that’s if the Commanders can replicate this past season’s success. They’re bringing back most key weapons, including Bobby Wagner, to hopefully lead them to a potential Super Bowl for Washington. However, they lost Dante Fowler Jr. back to the Dallas Cowboys, so it will be hard to replace that kind of upside he had with the Commanders, leading the team in sacks.
Mosley won’t put that many sacks in one season anymore since he’s on the older side, but he’s a solid tackler. The linebacker knows how to change around a football team, and that’s what he could do like Wagner did last year with his outstanding performance. He won’t be taking Frankie Luvu’s spot, but enough to make an impact in certain situations.
Baltimore Ravens
However, no one should count on a reunion in Baltimore. The Ravens are in dire need of a linebacker since they lost Malik Harrison during free agency. Roquan Smith and Odafe Oweh are solid defenders, but the same can’t be said about Trenton Simpson. Mosley won’t last long in the NFL anymore, but the Ravens could bring back an old friend to finally push for the Super Bowl in the Lamar Jackson era.
Los Angeles Chargers
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers have one of the worst edge rushers in the league despite bringing back Khalil Mack for at least one more year. With Joey Bosa gone, the Chargers have yet to find a replacement. Mosley could fit the hole since head coach Jim Harbaugh wants an old-school defense, and the linebacker resembles the description.
