Post-Draft NFL power rankings: Pundits still have Ravens as top contenders

Where do pundits have the Ravens after the 2024 NFL Draft?

The 2024 NFL Draft has teams loading back up for another NFL season and with it come the power rankings. Before the draft, many had the Ravens high on their boards coming off their dominant regular season that fell short in the playoffs. But now where do they rank?

New York Post’s Steve Serby: “No. 5. Defending MVP Lamar Jackson and OC Todd Monken welcome Derrick Henry, a healthy Mark Andrews and emerging Zay Flowers. Rookie Roger Rosengarten could replace RT Morgan Moses. New DC Zach Orr inherits the No. 1 defense as a first-time play-caller and a 4.28 corner GM Eric DeCosta considers the best in the class in Nate Wiggins. PK Justin Tucker is a weapon.”

NBC Sports’ Sports Sanjesh Singh: “No. 5. After Lamar Jackson struggled en route to another postseason exit, Baltimore went out and signed Derrick Henry before drafting tackle Roger Rosengarten and wideout Devontez Walker. The Ravens also drafted corners Nate Wiggins (first round) and T.J. Tampa (third round), who could play key roles early.”

NFL.com’s Eric Edholm: “No. 3. It was a fairly Ravens-y draft, with few big surprises and plenty of solid value picks filling both immediate and longer-term needs. It would be fair to ask if Baltimore is done adding to the offensive line. Second-rounder Roger Rosengarten likely starts at right tackle right away. Center Nick Samac was the only other OL pick, putting the seventh-rounder in the mix to back up Tyler Linderbaum. Adding veteran help up front makes sense. But the Ravens bolstered the defense on all three days of the draft, with first-rounder Nate Wiggins and fourth-rounder T.J. Tampa joining the unit as two different styles of cornerback who can help combat the AFC North’s stud receivers. The Ravens are just good at the draft. Instead of panicking on the offensive line, they let the board kind of dictate how they proceeded. I think that’s the right way to do it most of the time. Baltimore isn’t going anywhere, folks.”

Pro Football Network’s Dallas Robinson: “No. 7. It’s unclear if the Ravens plan for Wiggins to start as a rookie. Marlon Humphrey won’t lose his job, while fellow CB Brandon Stephens allowed just an 80.6 passer rating on 108 targets in 2023. Baltimore lost safety Geno Stone this offseason, which could force Kyle Hamilton to play more true safety than nickel. In that case, Humphrey could slide into the slot while Wiggins sees action on the perimeter.”

Sportskeeda’s Adam Hulse: “No. 3. The Baltimore Ravens had arguably the best all-around roster in the NFL last season and they further improved by adding Derrick Henry during the offseason. They are legitimate Super Bowl contenders after falling one game short last year.”

The Wright Way’s Gavin Downard: “No. 7. The Ravens, as always, had a very good draft. Roger Rosengarten likely starts right away for them, and Nate Wiggins and T.J. Tampa will compete for time at cornerback. The Ravens are still one of the best rosters in the NFL, with the MVP at quarterback. They will compete despite some losses in free agency.”

Fansided’s John Buhler: “No. 4. The Baltimore Ravens are not my favorite team next year, but I would be foolish to not consider them among the handful of teams I think can realistically get to and win a Super Bowl. I may doubt Lamar Jackson’s chances of winning his third NFL MVP next year, but I do think he takes his game up a level in the postseason. Getting to work with Todd Monken for one more season will pay out big time here.”
