Injury Report

Will Kyle Hamilton Play?

On Wednesday and Thursday, safety Kyle Hamilton, who suffered injury and did not return to the game against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, was a practice participant and wearing a knee brace. On Friday, he was seen practicing and was listed as full (though it was more of a walk-through practice). Head Coach John Harbaugh said on Friday that Hamilton’s trending in the right direction to play on Sunday.

“I think [the chances of him playing on Sunday] are good,” Harbaugh said. “We’ll just see how he does the next couple days, but he’s in a good place right now.”

Hamilton was asked on Wednesday about his injury and his odds of playing.

“[I’m] still unsure [on is chances of playing],” Hamilton said. “[It’s] up in the air. I went out there today, felt pretty good, so we’ll go from there.”

Hamilton did say he was hoping to return against the Rams after the second time he was banged up.

“I was wrapping it up to go back in again after the second time coming out,” Hamilton said. “Medically, I feel like the team trainers were doing a good job of monitoring it and letting me know the risk of going back in wasn’t very … [It] wouldn’t have been a smart decision if I did so, so they just sat me down, and I think it was the best decision.”

Winning In Jacksonville Is Tough

The Ravens fanbase travels well. In most stadiums, there’s a swath of purple painted in the stands and cheers for the Charm City club. But that doesn’t always make it easy to win on the road and for some reason, playing in Jacksonville is a bother for Baltimore. All time, they’re 3-7 on the road against Jacksonville. Harbaugh was asked what makes it difficult to win there.

“For me, just the games that we’ve played there that I remember, they’ve played better than us,” Harbaugh said. “We have not played our best games down there the last couple times.”

The Deep Ball

The Ravens have done their damnedest to get the deep passing game going. Against the Rams, some of the shots were successful as Lamar Jackson linked up with his pass-catchers. However, they have a ways to go. But was the long ball simply due to their opponent, or is it more?

“Sometimes, it just presents itself. Sometimes, you have those called in other games, and the ball doesn’t find that spot,” Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken said. “It ends up [as] a checkdown [throw] or ends up [if] you have a breakdown in [pass] protection. To the naked eye, they feel like we took more shots. I’d have to go back and look at it, but we certainly have the same amount within reasons each game. You’re looking at screens, get-the-ball-out rhythm throws, movements, play-actions and drop-backs. We try to stay within a certain window the best we can. Certain games go another way than others. Like I said, sometimes the ball finds them. Did we go into the game anticipating that many throws? No. Did we anticipate two lengthy two-minute drives that are going to skew that – that are going to make it look more like we were throwing it more often?”

DVOA Stuff

The Ravens are the No. 2 team by DVOA.
