Prior to the Philadelphia Eagles’ demolition of the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman made some controversial remarks about the reigning AFC champions.
Bateman expressed his desire for the Eagles to win, and there is certainly nothing eyebrow-raising about that, but some of the reasons he gave as to why are a bit provocative, to say the least.
The former Golden Gopher is being very careful with what he does not say, but what’s being implied is quite noteworthy.
“I want the Eagles to win. But we all know how that goes. … I just don’t have respect for them anymore.”

“I want the Eagles to win,” Bateman said on the SiriusXM program MB Fantasy Life.
“But we all know how that goes… I just don’t have respect for them (KC) anymore.”
Bateman continued:
“I just don’t have respect for them anymore. I think we all see why…Some stuff just go to far, and it affects other people, it affects other people’s lives and affects people’s outcomes. I don’t really like that”
Let’s focus on a few phrases there, the first one being “but we all know how that goes.”
How what goes? Well, we’re not here to put words in Bateman’s mouth, but you can probably read in between the lines on that one.
The next phrases to pay special attention to are “we all see why…Some stuff just go too far.”
Now only Bateman knows for sure what he specifically means by these words, as he’s obviously keeping it a bit close to the vest. But what do you think he’s implying? That’s up to you the reader.
However, when you put the phrases that we highlighted all together, and pair that with the widely held belief that the Chiefs receive favoritism from the NFL, and well, you can draw a straight line here.
Of course, Chiefs fans would deny all of that, and simply claim the old “they hate us, cuz they ain’t us” routine.
Chiefs supporters will read/hear Bateman’s remarks and just say that he’s bitter about how the Ravens can’t beat them.
People who dislike the Chiefs will say that Bateman is all but saying it- the league wants Kansas City, more than any other team, to succeed.
