Ravens announce 5 roster moves ahead of regular season finale

A veteran depth player is headed to IR and a four-time Pro Bowler officially joined the team.

The Baltimore Ravens made a handful of roster transactions involving the active roster and practice squad on Friday before their Week 18 divisional matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday evening in primetime.

Among the most notable are the placement of veteran defensive back Daryl Worley on injured reserve and the official signing of veteran running back Dalvin Cook to the practice squad.

As soon as the four-time Pro Bowler mutually agreed to part ways with the New York Jets on Tuesday, Charm City was tabbed as a potential landing spot for him by CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson and the signing was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter multiple insiders on Thursday.

Worley has appeared in 12 games for the Ravens this season and had already been ruled out for Saturday’s game with shoulder and ankle injuries. He left their Week 17 win over the Miami Dolphins early with a stinger and this designation likely ends his 2023 campaign baring a return for the Super Bowl if the team makes it that far since he is required to miss a minimum of at least four games while on injured reserve.

Assuming Worley’s place on the active roster will be second-year outside linebacker Jeremiah Moon who was on the practice squad but out of standard elevations. Two players from the practice squad who are being elevated for this game are veteran defensive back Andrew Adams and third-year tight end/fullback Ben Mason.

This will be for the third and final standard elevation for Adams this season since he was called up in Weeks 12 and 17, meaning he’d have to be signed to the active roster in order to suit up again in the playoff. Mason was a fifth-round pick by the Ravens in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Michigan and will be making his 2023 and first-ever NFL regular season debut after having been on the practice squad in Baltimore, New England, and Chicago during his first three years in the league.
