Ravens have more than a 50% probability to win the AFC
On Monday night, the Miami Dolphins blew a 14-point fourth quarter lead to the Tennessee Titans to lose, 28-27. As a result, the Ravens finished Week 14 as the No. 1 seed in the AFC. The loss also propelled the Ravens to becoming the odds-on favorite to win the AFC, according to The New York Times NFL playoff simulator.
Prior to Monday’s result, the Ravens were given a 46% probability to win the conference. With the Titans victory, the simulator has the Ravens up to a 54% probability.
The Ravens are now, above all else, masters of their own fate. If they defeat the Jaguars, Dolphins and Steelers, they come away with the No. 1 seed, even after their Week 16 game to the San Francisco 49ers.
If the Ravens lose to the Steelers in Week 18, it then becomes a little more favorable than a coin flip to win the conference, with the simulator giving them a 55% probability.
All the Ravens desire is before them. They’re 14 weeks into the season and they are the class of the AFC.
