Ravens, Chargers May Disrupt Bears Safety Visitation

The Ravens, Chargers may disrupt the Bear’s safety visitation with former Pittsburgh Steeler, Terrell Edmunds this year. According to multiple sources, it probably won’t be too long for Edmunds to find a new NFL home since receiving his first visit with a roster. After his release from the Steelers for a second time, the veteran free-agent has been searching for one more opportunity before he could finally call it quits in the league. Originally selected in the 2018 NFL Draft, the safety began his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars before the Steelers brought him on for the first time serving as a full-time starter.

A deal with the Bears may allow Edmunds to play alongside Tremaine Edmunds but this probably won’t be his only visit this season. There are plenty of teams looking for depth before the NFL postseason since the rosters can’t use the trade block anymore. No one should expect to hand Terrell full-time duties with a roster, but a reserve role where he can prove himself to be a reliable secondary piece. Edmunds just recorded eight tackles through four games in a total of 145 snaps.

He is no game-changer nor will he drastically improve the defense but it’s efficient enough to get him the secondary to see what he could do. In his early years, Edmunds started in 75 contests, recording 410 total tackles and five interceptions. The veteran landing with the Ravens, Chargers should improve his production since they have a better spot for him to thrive.

Fixing Baltimore’s Defense

The Baltimore Ravens throughout the season look better than what their record shows at 7-4 in the books. They have a high-caliber quarterback in Lamar Jackson alongside ferocious runner Derrick Henry to run through defenders. Baltimore may be great at keeping games close and shootouts but after losing to the Steelers, it shows that matchups must be won in the trenches too. Since losing Geno Stone and plenty of defensive pieces, the Ravens’ defense hasn’t been looking the same since inexperienced athletes are having to step up.

The secondary is probably the worst they have ever been and this is something they can’t afford when dealing with close matchups. Brandon Stephens is showing signs of life but with Kyle Hamilton banged up, they could use some veteran help from Edmunds. He doesn’t need to start but be a rotating piece in the defense to give Marlon Humphrey some fresh breath of air and new starter Ar’Darius Washington relief. They signed journeyman Desmond King to their practice squad so it shows that they’re probably going to keep plugging in athletes to help restructure this entire defense.

Playoffs in the Trenches

Justin Herbert is finally catching a break with Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey stepping up in crucial moments. After Sunday night’s win, they look like a real dark horse candidate to make it far into the postseason. They probably won’t spoil the Ravens or the Chiefs’ chances but signing someone like Edmunds may boost it. The defense may be changing the culture but they can never have too many secondary pieces to go all in.

With a few miscues on offense, Jim Harbaugh still wants to win upcoming playoff matchups in the trenches. This can’t happen if there are too many shootouts for Herbert to handle. Cornerback Kristian Fulton is playing his best game but they could use some relief behind Alohi Gilman and Derwin James.
