Ravens, Chiefs May Pursue Superstar Receiver in Trade Talks

The Ravens and Chiefs may pursue superstar receiver DeAndre Hopkins in trade talks this season. According to sources, NFL teams are monitoring Hopkin’s availability for a possible trade before the upcoming deadline in November. It makes sense why they could explore that since the Titans are 0-3 and don’t look like a playoff contender this season. Despite that, there were high hopes for Will Levis but he hasn’t found his rhythm and many are calling out the team to bench him.

ESPN’s Dan Graziano expects the Steelers to monitor the trade market and names Hopkins one of their targets. Hopkins was the best player on the roster last year with the Titans and Steelers are looking to bolster their offense after a 3-0 start under Justin Fields. The five-time Pro Bowler put 75 receptions for 1,057 yards and seven touchdowns despite being the main ingredient of the team’s success. Levis found a ton of success in the passing game with Hopkins being a crucial element of the offense.

This could be the same for Fields who is always looking for a target to throw to since the only viable option they have is George Pickens. They hoped to bring in Brandon Aiyuk, D.K. Metcalf or Deebo Samuel but trade talks fell through. However, this could be the Steelers’ last chance to add a receiver in time for what they hope will be a playoff season. There are plenty of rosters other than Pittsburgh keeping an eye on Hopkins.

The Ravens and Chiefs may be better fits for Hopkins due to their recent history of success in the postseason and they could look to bolster their offense. It might be one big move for them before they become a superstar team it shouldn’t be surprising if these two teams pursue Hopkins.

More Firepower for Jackson

Lamar Jackson has been looking sluggish the first three weeks of this year. This isn’t surprising as Zay Flowers is their main source of moving down the chains. However, Rashod Bateman and Nelson Agholor finally found their groove against one of the worst defenses in week three over the Dallas Cowboys. If Flowers becomes their only consistent receiver and reliable target, trouble may be coming. Bateman and Agholor have inconsistent issues but it didn’t affect them much last season since tight end Mark Andrews was carrying most of the load.

Andrews isn’t the same player anymore as Isaiah Likely will probably win the starting job. This means Jackson doesn’t have his security blanket anymore if defenders rush him in the pocket. He may have running back Justice Hill but with an already bruised backfield room, they don’t want to risk relying on him. If Hopkins can stay healthy, he could ensure the receiving room has another deep threat.

Extra Life in Kansas City

The Chiefs may be 3-0 but they are one score each week away from losing. They probably should be 0-3 but the team found a way to win in the end. However, since losing Marquise Brown, they should entertain the idea of adding Hopkins. Rookie Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice are the only reliable receivers they have so adding a complete package with Hopkins should get them back to being consistent.

Other Potential Trade Destinations

Los Angeles Chargers

Justin Herbert needs more help in the passing game especially since he’s dealing with an ankle sprain. It’s not the end of the world for Herbert but if they want to be a competitor in the AFC, they should go after Hopkins to improve the receiver room. Rookie Ladd McConkey is their best receiver making all of the plays happen. Quentin Johnston continues to be inconsistent and Joshua Palmer is a journeyman. Hopkins isn’t the same player but he would become their number one receiver as McConkey will be behind them.

Carolina Panthers

Adam Thielen is on the IR and the Panthers haven’t seen if Diontae Johnson can be consistent. They finally have a reliable quarterback starting but a temporary one to move the sticks. However, Thielen could come back but the Panthers should look to add a wideout behind Johnson and rookie Xavier Legette. Hopkins would most likely win the No. 1 receiver job and help Johnson in the deep threat.
