Ravens Could Lose All-Pro After One Season – Panthers, Saints Top Destinations

January 22, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Tre'Davoius White Teams

After switching teams in the offseason, two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Tre’Davious White could be on the move again in 2025. A first-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, White used to be one of the most dominant players in the league. Finishing second in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting in 2017, the cornerback quickly made two Pro Bowls and one First-Team All-Pro team while playing an instrumental role in Buffalo’s rise to the 2020 AFC Championship Game.

Unfortunately, injuries limited him to just 21 games over the next three seasons and the cash-strapped Bills had to cut him ahead of 2024. White arrived in Baltimore following a midseason trade after starting the season with the Los Angeles Rams. While he never recaptured his old form, the former Bill had his moments in Baltimore. However, with the Ravens season finished, nobody should be surprised if he leaves for greener pastures.

Tre’Davious White is no longer a Pro Bowl-caliber player, but several teams should be willing to take a risk on the veteran. Sometimes you must try and catch lightning in a bottle, which is exactly what cornerback-needy teams like the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints could do.

2 Teams Could Sign Free Agent Tre’Davious White

The Carolina Panthers finished the season with a 5-12 record, but the future is bright for the first time since the Cam Newton days. Quarterback Bryce Young looked like a legitimate franchise quarterback down the stretch, and the strong offensive line and promising young playmakers should give them the tools required to carry his success into 2025. With the offense mostly addressed, Carolina must spend their offseason resources on a defense that ranked at or near the bottom of just about every metric in the league.

Tre’Davious White won’t be a teams best cornerback in 2025, but he won’t have to be. The Carolina Panthers already have Jaycee Horn, a first-round pick coming off a Pro Bowl season. Additionally, journeyman Mike Jackson had a surprisingly strong season last year and shouldn’t cost too much to retain. A trio of Horn, Jackson, and White won’t make anyone forget about the Legion of Boom, they should be good enough to help Carolina compete in a weak NFC South.

More Cornerback Help

The New Orleans Saints entered the 2024 season with two reliable starting cornerbacks in Marshon Lattimore and Paulson Adebo. Chances are, both players will be gone next year, as Lattimore is on the Washington Commanders while Adebo will probably leave as a free agent. Second-round pick Kool-Aid McKinstry showed promise as a rookie, but he can’t lock down an entire offense by himself. Currently drowning in salary cap depth, the Saints cannot afford to spend big on the best free agents, so they might buy low on Tre’Davious White.

General Manager Mickey Loomis will restructure his way to salary cap compliance, but there are too many holes to address on this roster. Rather than spending up to fix one or two of the several weaknesses on the roster, Loomis should focus on finding adequate low-risk, high-reward options like White. Perhaps he doesn’t work out, but it can’t hurt to kick the tires and sign him to a reasonably cheap contract.
