Ravens Cut Wide Receiver Before Divisional Round Game

The Baltimore Ravens enjoyed a first-round bye after a dominant 13-4 season. They made some transactions while awaiting their AFC Divisional Round opponent.

On Monday, the Ravens placed defensive back Damarion Williams on injured reserve and waived wide receiver Laquon Treadwell.

After playing 14 games in 2022, Williams spent 14 weeks on the IR recovering from a preseason ankle surgery. The 25-year-old didn’t see the field until playing on special teams when Baltimore rested starters in Week 18.

Baltimore represented Treadwell’s fifth team in as many years. The former first-round pick spent most of 2023 on the practice squad and didn’t receive any targets until snagging a 16-yard reception in Week 18.

Monday’s moves give Baltimore roster flexibility to activate someone before its postseason matchup.

The Ravens designated Mark Andrews to return from the IR three days ago. The star tight end missed the final six games of the regular season with a fractured fibula.

Andrews caught 45 of 61 targets for 544 yards and six touchdowns in 10 games. He had led the team in catches and receiving yards each of the past two seasons before Lamar Jackson received more help from Zay Flowers and Odell Beckham Jr. in 2023.

Baltimore could also activate running back Dalvin Cook, who joined the practice squad earlier this month. The four-time Pro Bowler averaged 3.2 yards per carry before the New York Jets cut him.

The Ravens will host the Houston Texans or Pittsburgh Steelers, depending on the result of Monday’s game at Buffalo.
