The Baltimore Ravens head into Week 18 of the 2021 season preparing for the Pittsburgh Steelers to come to M&T Bank Stadium. Defensive tackle Calais Campbell is one of many veterans who will be a free agent when the season concludes for Baltimore, with his NFL future uncertain.
When Campbell was asked about whether the Ravens would be the only team he’d want to play for or whether he would sign elsewhere if he decides to continue his football journey, the veteran said that he’s put zero thought into it, but did say that he loves being a Raven.
“I’ve put zero thought into that at all, so I can’t even answer that, honestly. But I do know that I love being a Raven. This has been a great journey these last two years. This place is definitely special, and I’ve got a lot of guys in this locker room who I respect, and who I’d want in my foxhole any day of the week, and to me, that’s definitely something that is important. And I know there’s some guys in here who believe that if circumstances were a little different, and if we had all of our guys together, that we’d be a tough team to beat, and I think that being a part of something like that would be fun. But it’s just … I have no idea.”
Campbell would most certainly be welcomed back to Baltimore with open arms if he does decides to come back. However, he will be 36 years old, so many have wondered how productive he would be at that age. It’s known what a great mentor and teammate he is, so that could help out the other players on the roster. This upcoming offseason is going to be an interesting one for sure.
