The Baltimore Ravens draft Washington OT Roger Rosengarten with the No. 62 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

With the No. 62 pick in Round 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens selected Roger Rosengarten, offensive tackle, Washington.

Height: 6’5”
Weight: 308 lbs.

School: Washington

2023 stats: Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 Conference. Team won the Joe Moore Award, given to the nation’s top OL. Started all 15 games at RT.

Kyle Phoenix’s analysis: The Ravens fill their need at right tackle by landing an immediate starting prospect in Rosengarten. Being a right tackle for Washington was protecting the blindside of left-handed quarterback Michael Penix Jr., meaning his role was more important than the traditional right tackle assignments.

The Ravens had their choice between Rosengarten and Kingsley Suamataia, and opted for the more technical and mobile player, which you can argue fits the mold better of offensive coordinator Todd Monken’s offense. Also, they already have the size/power combination in their current right tackle, Daniel Faalele.

Getting Rosengarten to bulk up a bit and perfect his form will be important, but there’s a significant confidence Ravens offensive line coach Joe D’Alessandris can mold anybody into a technician.

Scouting Reports

ESPN Post-Draft Analysis

NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein

Two-year starter with long legs, a physical demeanor and a limited athletic profile. Rosengarten is smart and uses all the tricks in his bag to make up for his lack of fluidity. His ability to help protect his quarterback in five-man protections helped to bring the Huskies the Joe Moore Award (given to the top offensive line in college football), but he might be too slow-footed to stay in front of NFL rushers. He’s below average as a bender and still needs to work on his hand placement, but a move inside to guard could give him a better shot at making a roster as a mauler on a physical front.

Dane Brugler (The Athletic) draft guide:

SUMMARY: A two-year starter at Washington, Rosengarten secured the right tackle position in former offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb’s zone-based scheme. After practicing as a left tackle his first two years on campus, he moved to the right side before the 2022 season when Michael Penix Jr. transferred to Seattle, so he could protect the lefty quarterback’s blindside. In both the run game and pass protection, Rosengarten explodes out of his stance with enough quickness to find the correct angles and work his hands into correct position. However, he needs to play with better timing to compensate for his average core strength and inconsistent bend — or things unravel quickly (see his tape against Michigan in his final game in the 2023 national championship game). Overall, Rosengarten’s pass protection won’t win any beauty pageants, but his feet stay active, and he trusts his handwork and eyes to execute his blocks. He projects as an immediate swing tackle for an offense with the potential to be a dependable starter if he continues to develop (stylistically similar to Garrett Bolles).
