The NFL world is anxiously waiting to find out what’ll happen between Lamar Jackson and the Ravens.
Jackson is set to be a free agent this offseason. The Ravens could prevent him from hitting the open market by utilizing the franchise tag.
On Wednesday afternoon, Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta discussed the team’s contract talks with Jackson. He admit there’s a lot of urgency at this stage in the negotiations.
“We both understand the urgency,” DeCosta said, via ESPN’s Jamison Hensley. “We’ll see where it goes.”
DeCosta added that he’s optimistic a deal will get done.
Even though Jackson may cost the Ravens an awful lot of money, it beats the alternative of not having a franchise quarterback.
“You can’t win in this league without a strong quarterback,” DeCosta said. “We want Lamar here. We want him back. Living in a world without a quarterback is a bad world to live in.”
It has been reported by multiple NFL insiders that Jackson wants a fully guaranteed contract.
