After losing running backs J.K. Dobbins and Justice Hill to season-ending injuries, the Baltimore Ravens have decided to do some last-minute shopping on the free agent market.
On Tuesday night, ESPN insider Adam Schefter reported that Le’Veon Bell would be joining the Ravens’ practice squad for the start of the 2021 season. Moments ago, the Ravens officially announced that signing.
Bell has really struggled to make a significant impact on the gridiron since leaving the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2019. During the 2020 season, he had 254 rushing yards and 99 receiving yards for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Perhaps a return to the AFC North will help Bell return to his Pro Bowl form. However, he’ll need to be promoted to the 53-man roster before he can think about revitalizing his NFL career.

Bell isn’t the only running back joining the Ravens this week. The front office has also signed Trenton Cannon.
Cannon, 27, will be on the 53-man roster for Week 1 of the regular season. He last played for the Carolina Panthers.

Cannon isn’t a household name like Bell, but he has proven to be a really impactful player on special teams. That could be one of the reasons why he’s on Baltimore’s active roster.
The Ravens are entering this season with Gus Edwards and Ty’Son Williams as their top two running backs.
