Ravens place cornerback on injured reserve; defensive lineman now doubtful vs. Bills

Ravens make multiple moves before Week 4 against the Buffalo Bills.

After suffering a hamstring injury in Week 3, Baltimore Ravens cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis has been placed on injured reserve.

This is unfortunately the latest in a string of career injuries plaguing the former 2022 fourth-round pick, as he’s either been inactive or did not play in 22 of 37 career games.

Losing Armour-Davis won’t put much of a stressor on the Ravens’ defensive unit, as he logged just 15 defensive snaps in 2024, with 14 of them coming in Week 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Since the return of first-round cornerback Nate Wiggins, Armour-Davis was all but limited to special teams duties, where he played 76% and 54% of all special teams snaps in Week 2 and Week 3, respectively.

It’s likely the Ravens will have fourth-round cornerback T.J. Tampa, or another depth piece in Armour-Davis’ place.

Along with missing Armour-Davis, the Ravens have downgraded nose tackle Michael Pierce prior to Sunday’s contest against the Buffalo Bills. Pierce suffered a shoulder injury on the play where he disrupted Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott in Week 3. He was a full participant in practice on Thursday and Friday.

Pierce has been a valuable addition for the Ravens’ defensive line rotation. In the past two weeks, he’s logged 49 of a possible 143 defensive snaps (34%). If he is out against the Bills, it will assign greater workloads for defensive tackles Travis Jones, Broderick Washington and defensive end Brent Urban.

Of the position groups on the roster, the Ravens’ defensive line is one of the thinnest groups, rostering just five players. While Jones, Washington, Urban and Nnamdi Madubuike are a great combination of talent in both run defense and pass rush, they could wear down against the likes of the Bills.

For a second straight week, the Ravens have promoted running back Chris Collier from the practice squad. As the No. 3 running back, Collier didn’t see the field on offense against the Cowboys and participated in just one snap on special teams.
