The Baltimore Ravens defeated the New York Jets by a score of 24-9 in Week 1 to open the regular season on Sunday. Despite the news of a couple players being lost for the season with injuries, a lot of positive came from the game. One player on the team then made an impact off of the field the next day for youth at an elementary school.
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson visited with elementary school students on Monday and read his “I Dream, You Dream, Let Us Dream!” children’s book. The book was published in January 2022 and was written to inspire children of all ages to never give up on their dreams, according to the overview.

When accompanied with hard work, dedication, consistency and faith, your dream can turn into your reality. Do not allow others to tell you that your dreams are impossible and can’t be done. Even if it’s never been done before, you’re just the one chosen to do it. Dream big, work hard and live your reality! You can do it”

Jackson engaged with the children in questions. One of the questions the star quarterback asked the students was what they wanted to be when they grow up. The responses included a football player, a rockstar, a soccer player and a rapper.

The children even had the opportunity to ask Jackson questions. Some of the questions included what his favorite color was, which he was quick to respond with purple, and maybe the most heartfelt question asked was why he was the best quarterback.

Jackson’s reach in the community is well known. Aside from visiting schools, Jackson has annual event dubbed “Fun Day with LJ,” in which kids in south Florida can come for football, activities, food and interact with the former league MVP. Jackson has done a lot of work for youth in the communities he’s been a part of, one of the many reasons Baltimore is happy to have him.
