Ravens ranked as average AFC team following first wave of free agency by CBS Sports

The Baltimore Ravens haven’t addressed any needs so far during the 2023 offseason with outside players. They’ve re-signed a few of their own 2022 contributors, but their stalemate with quarterback Lamar Jackson still looms large, putting a cloud on the first wave of free agency for the team so far.

When ranking each AFC team after the first wave of 2023 free agency, Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports put Baltimore in the middle of the pack in the conference at No. 8 overall. When explaining why, Dajani talked about how the Ravens are a playoff team with Jackson, and how it’s time for the team to get a wide receiver while mending their relationship with the star signal caller.

“The Ravens are a playoff team with Jackson under center, and I’m fascinated to see how Todd Monken changes the offense. Baltimore needs to go out and get a receiver, but more importantly, find a way to mend fences with Jackson.”

Baltimore’s offseason majorly hinges on whatever happens with Jackson and his situation. The team currently has their hands tied behind their back for multiple reasons, including the $32.4 million cap hit that Jackson costs due to the non-exclusive franchise tag, and with no end in sight and other teams improving, things could get dicey over the coming weeks and months depending on what happens.
