Ravens Re-sign Two Players Ahead of Thursdays Draft

April 25, 2023 by Maryland Sports Blog

The Baltimore Ravens re-signed two players on Monday, just a few days ahead of start of the 2023 NFL draft. Veteran Cornerback and special teamer Kevon Seymour returns to Baltimore after spending the last two seasons with the team.

Signed to the practice squad in 2021, Seymour played in five games totaling four tackles while play mostly special teams. Seymour returned to the Ravens in 2022 on a one-year deal and was promoted to the active roster on October 1st.

In 2022 Seymour played in 14 games totaling three tackles, but became one of the teams best special teams players especially as a gunner on punt.

Pro Bowl quarterback Tyler Huntley is back in Baltimore for at least another season as he signed his restricted free agent tag. Huntley played in six games last season and started five in place of an injured Lamar Jackson. Huntley helped lead the Ravens to the playoffs where he got his first career playoff start in a loss to the Bengals.

In 2022 Huntley completed 67% of his passes throwing for 658 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions, while adding 137 yards and one touchdown on the ground. While Huntley is no Lamar Jackson he is 3-5 as a starter and while he struggled was much improved in 2022 compared to when he took over late in the 2021 season as the full time starter.

While this isn’t the quarterback signing many Ravens fans have been hoping for this offseason Huntley brings a level experience to the Ravens quarterback room that currently is in flux.

With draft just around the corner much will look to be resolved involving Lamar Jackson and his status as a Baltimore Raven. While right now it appears he will return a trade this week or a signing after the draft could open the door for Huntley to take the reigns as the starter in 2023, or the Ravens may look to make a move to draft a quarterback leading to a quarterback battle come training camp.
