The Baltimore Ravens selected eight players in the 2021 NFL draft, with six of them sticking with the team past training camp and the preseason. They got solid contributions from those six, including first-round selections Rashod Bateman and Odafe Oweh.
In a re-draft of the 2021 NFL draft, Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports shook up who selected who in the first round, including Baltimore. At pick No. 27 he has the Ravens selecting New England Patriots defensive lineman Christian Barmore, while at pick No. 31 he selects Indianapolis Colts EDGE Kwity Paye. For Barmore, Trapsso explains how he was the best defensive tackle to come out of the draft.
“The Ravens have to get better on the interior given Calais Campbell’s age. Barmore was the best rookie defensive tackle in 2021.”
For his explanation of selecting Paye, Trapasso looks at how he was solid in both run and pass defense.
“Paye wasn’t sensational as a rookie. He was solid against the run and as a pass rusher. The Ravens need more juice around the corner.”
In terms of where Baltimore’s two first rounders were selected, Oweh went to the New Orleans Saints at No. 30, while Bateman was somehow not selected in the first 32 picks. Even though Barmore and Paye are very talented players, it seems like the Ravens did better in the actual 2021 draft.
