The Baltimore Ravens’ roster is ready for a Super Bowl run.
The Baltimore Ravens have been one of the NFL’s best teams since Lamar Jackson took over as the starting quarterback midway through the 2018 season. That looks to continue this year as general manager Eric DeCosta has once again assembled one of the league’s best rosters, with 11 draft picks to add to the equation starting this Thursday with the No. 27 overall pick in the first round.
When ranking all 32 NFL rosters ahead of the draft, The Athletic’s Austin Mock pegged the Ravens as the second-best in the NFL, with the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles topping the list.
“The Ravens are still trying to get over the hump in the AFC, and this could be their year to do it,” Mock wrote. “They are strong at the skill positions, particularly the further you get away from the line of scrimmage. They boast top-10 positional rankings at quarterback, running back, tight end, linebacker, cornerback and safety.”
Quarterback Lamar Jackson, running back Derrick Henry, and safety Kyle Hamilton could all be argued for as the best or second-best player at their respective positions, while tight end Mark Andrews, inside linebacker Roquan Smith, and cornerback Marlon Humphrey are near the top of theirs as well.
“Sure, they should probably add some wide receiver help for MVP QB Lamar Jackson, but their primary focus in the draft should be in the trenches on both sides of the ball. They rate around average on the offensive and defensive line heading into the 2025 season.”
It is hard to envision Baltimore addressing wide receiver in a big way with the seasons Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman are coming off of, while also adding veteran DeAndre Hopkins to the mix in free agency. Still, DeCosta will likely add at least one with his 11 draft picks. As Mock mentioned, the focus should be on the trenches for DeCosta in the draft. At the moment, outside linebacker and interior offensive line are the weakest position groups on paper for the Ravens, with key players such as outside linebacker Odafe Oweh and center Tyler Linderbaum nearing the end of their rookie contracts as well.
