The NFL’s weekly dose of bizarre fines just dropped and Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley got dinged for a “cheap shot” in Week 10 against the Cleveland Browns.
On Saturday, Stanley was fined $21,855 for a hit on Browns defender Denzel Ward. That hit, which came at the tail end of a play, resulted in a neck injury for Ward.
After the game, Ward called it a cheap shot but stopped short of calling the play dirty. But he didn’t say that it wasn’t dirty either.
“Yeah, I kind of felt it was a little cheap shot,” Ward said on Sunday, via Browns reporter Mary Kay Cabot. “He got me. I felt it was an unnecessary hit and probably could have been a penalty on the play, but I mean it’s football, stuff happens. It’s all good. I don’t wish no bad on nobody. But, yeah, I got got, so it’s all good.”
NFL fans believe that the play should have warranted a larger fine, if not a suspension.

“If any hit deserved a fine this year… it was that one,” one user replied to Mary Kay Cabot.
“That’s it? How was that not a suspension?” wrote another.
“Only 20k for head hunting?” a third wondered.
Do you agree with the punishment?
