Ravens Start Their Season Where It Ended Last Year

May 27, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Last season, the Baltimore Ravens traveled to Orchard Park to face the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round of the playoffs. The Bills were victorious in a 27-25 snowy and freezing ballgame.

Ravens Start Their Season Where It Ended

The schedule for the 2025-26 NFL season sets the stage for the Ravens to be back in Highmark Stadium to open the season. This is the second time in three seasons that the Ravens face their playoff opponent in Week 1.

Baltimore hosted the Kansas City Chiefs in the season before last. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs went scoreless in the second half but did enough to hold the Ravens off at M&T Bank Stadium. The Ravens fell to the Chiefs 17-10, while Kansas City went on to win the Super Bowl.

Could Ravens Seek Revenge Against the Bills?

Last season, the Ravens were sent home in dramatic fashion once again. Baltimore’s costly turnovers gave the Bills enough to secure the two-point victory. Ironically, the matchup’s outcome came down to a two-point conversion play. After quarterback Lamar Jackson extended a broken play and found tight end Isaiah Likely in the endzone for a touchdown, the Ravens were two yards away from potentially forcing overtime.

Unfortunately, tight end Mark Andrews dropped the game-tying conversion, cutting short Baltimore’s season and their hopes for another Super Bowl run. MVP-winning quarterback Josh Allen and the Bills advanced to the AFC Championship to face Mahomes and the Chiefs.

The Last Time Around

The Ravens and Bills met earlier in the season. The Bills traveled from Buffalo to Baltimore in late September for a Week 4 primetime matchup. The Ravens handed Buffalo their first loss of the season after putting up 35 points. The game is most known for Baltimore’s opening drive when running back Derrick Henry took the first play 87 yards to paydirt.

The Bills could not keep pace with the Ravens’ offense. Henry rushed for 199 yards, and Jackson threw for three touchdowns.

Since their last matchup, the Ravens have added players such as DeAndre Hopkins, Chidobe Awuzie, and Cooper Rush. The Bills have added players such as Joey Bosa, Joshua Palmer, and Michael Hoecht.

The Ravens and Bills matchup is set for September 7 at 8:20 p.m. The last time the Ravens and Bills met in Week 1, Baltimore won by 44 points in 2018. It will be another prime-time showdown between two MVP quarterbacks and solid defenses.
