The top highlights from the Ravens’ primetime win in Los Angeles

The Baltimore Ravens improved to 9-3 on Sunday night with a 10-point win over the Chargers in Los Angeles. The Ravens’ defense was the shining group under the bright lights, forcing a season-high turnovers while allowing only two scoring drives.

In a game where the Ravens outgained the Chargers in total yards, had more first downs, and won the time of possession battle decisively, highlights were not hard to come by.

Zay Flowers three-yard touchdown catch: After a quick three-and-out on their first drive ov the game, the Ravens responded with a 12-play, 78-yard possession that resulted in this go-ahead score from Flowers. On 2nd & Goal, Flowers created separation and was lofted a pass from Lamar Jackson after a play action fake. This was the rookie’s second touchdown reception of the season and first since Week 6 in London.

Roquan Smith forced fumble: Following a disappointing turnover on downs, the Ravens regained possession two plays later thanks to this play from Smith. The stalwart inside linebacker combined to tackle Keenan Allen over the middle of the field and dislodged the ball, which was recovered by Brent Urban. This put the Ravens in immediate scoring position, which they capitalized on with a field goal after five plays.

Patrick Queen forced fumble: The second half of the Ravens’ inside linebacker tandem joined Smith in the forced fumble party just a few minutes later. Another short pass from Justin Herbert, this time to Austin Ekeler, saw Queen attack the ball and rip it loose upon initial catch. Michael Pierce recovered the fumble and gave the Ravens a chance to add another score just before halftime. They ultimately were not able to convert but this turnover to prevent points was pivotal nonetheless.

Jadeveon Clowney sack and forced fumble: On the 19th play of a long, clock-chewing drive by the Chargers, Clowney got around the edge and stripped the ball loose from Herbert’s grasp. This came with the Chargers threatening to trim their deficit to one possession in the red zone. Clowney’s forced fumble deflated what was a momentum-building eight minutes for the Chargers, who immediately went back on defense. The Ravens unfortunately went three-and-out on the next possession, but Clowney’s effort was still paramount.

HUGE PLAY @ArthurMaulet2 !!!!!!

Arthur Maulet quarterback pressure: A rare missed field goal from Justin Tucker gave the Chargers possession of the ball, trailing by three points with just under three minutes remaining. The Ravens were able to force them into a fourth down situation just after they crossed midfield, where Mike Macdonald drew up a cornerback blitz for Maulet out of the nickel spot. Maulet rushed Herbert off the left side and nearly brought him down for a sack just before the ball was thrown away.

Zay Flowers 37-yard touchdown run: Flowers put the icing on the cake of Baltimore’s victory late in the fourth quarter. Needing a first down on third-and-short to kill the clock and secure a win, Flowers took a jet sweep 37 yards to the house. He could have went down and allowed the Ravens to kneel out the clock. Instead, he added his second touchdown of the game, first rushing score of the season, and longest rush by far to this point. He capped it off with another creative touchdown celebration.
